Strong Fourth Quarter Leads Stockton Past FSC

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Stockton led 12-8 heading into the fourth and outscored Farmingdale State 7-0 in the quarter to earn the 19-8 Skyline Conference victory this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. The FSC men's lacrosse team fell to 10-3, 2-1 on the year, while the Ospreys improved to 11-3, 3-1.

Trailing 7-1 with 2:37 left in the first half, the Rams used back-to-back goals within 16 seconds from junior attack Tyler Rifice* (Bohemia, N.Y.) to cut the deficit to four. After a score by Stockton, Farmingdale State closed the half with a man-up goal by senior midfielder Derrick Sherrod (Huntington, N.Y.) and a Rifice goal to go into the break down 8-5.

Only 1:46 into the third quarter, FSC sophomore midfielder Daniel Desimone (Plainview, N.Y.) tallied an unassisted score to close within two, 8-6. Senior midfielder Guy Loggi (Somers Point, N.Y.) answered for Stockton, before sophomore attack Michael Cegielski (Somers, N.Y.) scored to keep the deficit at two, 9-7.

The Ospreys outscored the Rams 10-1 the rest of the way to earn the conference victory.

Rifice finished with four goals, while Sherrod had one goal, two assists and three ground balls. Senior defender Dylan Bates* (Wading River, N.Y.) picked up a game-high eight ground balls and caused three turnovers and junior midfielder Nick LeBright (Levittown, N.Y.) had five ground balls and three caused turnovers for Farmingdale State.

For Stockton, Loggi, senior midfielder James O'Donnell (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) and sophomore attack Zack Aho (Shamong, N.J.) each recorded four goals. Senior goalkeeper Pat Quinn (Shrewsbury, N.J.) stopped 13 shots in the victory.

The Rams next will travel to Maritime for a conference game on Saturday, April 23rd at 11:00 a.m.
