Skyline Releases Spring Weekly Report #6

- Anderson named Player of the Week; Collard tabbed Pitcher of the Week and Snow earns Rookie of the Week honors -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report #6 on Monday, April 11th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Softball Update (12-10, 10-2 Skyline) - Full Report

The softball team was a perfect 4-0 last week with sweeps over both Yeshiva (16-1, 12-3) and Sarah Lawrence (13-1, 9-0).

Senior catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Anderson led FSC after batting .818 with nine hits in 11 at-bats, including six extra-base hits. In game one at Yeshiva, she was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and 3 RBI. Anderson hit for the cycle in game one against Sarah Lawrence after going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored and 3 RBI and in game two, she was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. Anderson held a .833 on-base percentage on the week.

Freshman Jaxie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.) earned Pitcher of the Week honors after posting a 4-0 record in four starts. She allowed no runs on four hits with four strikeouts in 4.0 innings in game one at Yeshiva and followed with 4.1 innings of work with one earned run and five strikeouts in game two. Against Sarah Lawrence, she allowed one run in 4.0 innings in game one and pitched three shutout innings in game two. Collard posted a team-leading 0.91 ERA on the week.

This week FSC will travel to St. Joseph's-LI (DH) on Saturday (12:00 p.m.) and host St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (DH) on Sunday (12:00 p.m.).

Baseball Update (9-10, 4-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams were 3-0 last week with a non-conference win over Baruch (16-1) and a Skyline sweep of Purchase (6-3, 4-3).

Freshman shortstop Brandon Snow (Owings, MD) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week and led the Rams with a .667 batting average. He was 3-for-3 with a double and triple, three runs scored, had 3 RBI and two stolen bases against Baruch. Snow was 1-for-3 with a run scored and RBI in game one at Purchase and went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and two stolen bases in game two of the doubleheader. He held a .727 on-base percentage in FSC's three games.

Junior pitcher Matt Seelinger (Westbury, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after earning the win in game one at Purchase after throwing 5.2 innings, allowing zero earned runs on one hit with six strikeouts. Seelinger held opponents to a .053 batting average.

This week the baseball team will play three conference doubleheaders: Wednesday vs. St. Joe's-LI @ 5:00 p.m., Saturday at Mount Saint Vincent @ 12:00 p.m. and Sunday vs. Old Westbury @ 12:00 p.m.

Men's Lacrosse Update (9-1, 2-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's lacrosse team posted a 3-0 mark last week with wins over Western Connecticut (16-2), Kean (7-4) and Dominican (14-4).

Sophomore attack Michael Cegielski (Somers, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after leading Farmingdale State with a team-high 12 points on eight goals and four assists. He recorded two goals, two assists and caused two turnovers at Western Connecticut and followed with a goal, an assist and two caused turnovers at Kean. Cegielski finished the week with a game-high six points on five goals and one assist, while adding three ground balls versus Dominican (NY).

Senior goalkeeper Thomas Fallon (Kings Park, N.Y.) had 32 saves, a 2.30 goals against average as well as an .842 save percentage en route to a 3-0 record.

This week the Rams will host a pair of non-conference games: Wednesday vs. Vassar (6:00 p.m.) and Friday vs. St. Thomas Aquinas (6:00 p.m.).

Women's Lacrosse Update (3-7, 2-0 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State defeated Mount Saint Vincent 10-2 in their lone game last week.

Senior midfielder Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after scoring two goals on two shots and adding one assist in the victory.

This week the women's lacrosse team will play at Drew on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. and host Maritime on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.

Men's Tennis Update (7-2, 3-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's tennis team recorded 9-0 victories over Brooklyn, Sage and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn last week.

This week the Rams will travel to Yeshiva on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. and host Purchase on Saturday at noon.

Golf Update

The golf team opened the spring season with an 11th place finish at the NYU Invitational held at Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield, N.J. Senior Scott Sessions (Pleasantville, N.Y.) posted rounds of 77 and 73 to finish in a tie for fifth place individually.

This week FSC will travel to Ballston Spa Country Club in Ballston Spa, N.Y. for the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational on Saturday & Sunday.

Outdoor Track Update

The men's and women's outdoor track teams competed at the TCNJ Invitational on Sunday.

Sophomore Stephen Schmidt (Levittown, N.Y.) recorded personal bests in both the discus and hammer. He won the discus with a toss of 43.96m and placed fourth in the hammer (42.19m). Sophomore Jyaire Ewa (North Massapequa, N.Y.) won the hammer with a distance of 51.08m.

This week outdoor track will travel to Merchant Marine for the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational on Sunday.
