Quick Start Leads Rams Past SUNY Canton

Binghamton, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team led 6-1 at halftime en route to the 12-4 non-conference victory over SUNY Canton on Wednesday afternoon at the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex.

Leading 2-1 with 5:53 left in the first quarter, sophomore attack Michael Cegielski (Somers, N.Y.) gave the Rams (2-1) a two goal advantage with a score off Brad Rapone's (Roslyn, N.Y.) pass. Only 47 seconds later, an unassisted goal by sophomore midfielder Daniel Desimone (Plainview, N.Y.) increased the FSC lead to 4-1.

Leading 5-1, senior midfielder Conor Pittard (Setauket, N.Y.) recorded a man-up goal which was the only score in the second quarter as the Rams took a 6-1 advantage into halftime.

Farmingdale State outscored the Kangaroos (0-2) 5-0 in the third quarter to increase their lead to 11-1.

Early in the fourth, freshman midfielder Dan Faiella (Bellmore, N.Y.) tallied FSC's final goal in the 12-4 non-conference win.

Rapone finished with a game-high five points on three goals and two assists, while Cegielski scored three times and picked up a game-high five ground balls. Desimone and Pittard each added a pair of goals in the victory.

The men's lacrosse team next will play host to Hartwick in a non-conference game on Saturday, March 12th at noon.
