Men's Lacrosse Announces 2016 Team Captains

- Bates, Corbett, Carrick and Rifice set to lead Rams in 2016 as captains -


Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State head men's lacrosse coach Sean Chamberlain and his coaching staff have selected four team captains for the 2016 season. The captains are Dylan Bates (Wading River, N.Y.), Ryan Corbett (Plainview, N.Y.), Kyle Carrick (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.).

Bates, a senior and returning captain, will be a team leader both on and off the field. Last season, he was a First Team All-Conference selection and the men's lacrosse Skyline Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In 2015, Bates started every game on defense for the Rams and caused a team-leading 25 turnovers. 

Corbett, a senior and also a captain last year, is entering his fourth season as a member of the Rams. He appeared in every game in 2015 and scored one goal, picked up 23 ground balls and caused eight turnovers.

Carrick, a senior and returning captain, started every game on defense last season for Farmingdale State. Carrick helped anchor a Rams defense that was ranked 53rd in Division III for scoring defense. Prior to FSC, Carrick played one season of lacrosse at Sacred Heart.

Rifice, who is entering his junior season, will be a new captain for 2016 and an offensive leader on the field. He appeared in all 16 games last year with 14 starts. Rifice was second on the Rams in assists (14) and third in both goals (17) and points (31).

Farmingdale State opens the 2016 season with a home non-conference game against Manhattanville on Wednesday, March 2nd at 4:00 p.m.
