- Hunter named Player of the Week for men's tennis, McCarthy for baseball -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report # on Monday, April 13th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Men's Tennis Update (7-2, 3-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's tennis team was a perfect 3-0 last week recording 9-0 victories against CCNY, Sage and Sarah Lawrence.

Sophomore Chris Hunter (Melville, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Hunter dropped just four total games in three singles victories at the No. 1 position and added three wins at No. 1 doubles as Farmingdale State notched victories over CCNY, Sage and Sarah Lawrence. He recorded 6-0, 6-1 decisions against both Sage (Apr. 11) and Sarah Lawrence (Apr. 12) and earned a 6-1, 6-1 decision on Apr. 8 versus CCNY. Hunter was tabbed the Skyline Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Freshman Karuppiah Karuppiah (Trichy, India) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after going 2-0 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles action.

This week Farmingdale State will play four Skyline matches: Wednesday @ Purchase - 3:30 p.m., Friday vs. St. Joe's - 4:30 p.m., Saturday @ Mount Saint Mary - 1:00 p.m. and Sunday vs. Yeshiva - noon.

Women's Lacrosse Update (5-4, 3-1 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State posted a 1-1 mark last week with a 19-1 win at Sage and a 10-9 double overtime loss to St. Joseph's.

Senior midfielder Christy Thoden* (Bayport, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after amassing 10 points (4G, 6A) and 16 draw controls.

This week the women's lacrosse team will play four games: Monday vs. Elmira - 5:00 p.m., Tuesday @ Maritime - 7:00 p.m., Thursday @ Connecticut College - 7:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Mount Saint Mary - 3:30 p.m.

Men's Lacrosse Update (6-5, 1-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams played one game last week and fell, 9-7, at home to Western Connecticut.

Junior goalie Thomas Fallon (Kings Park, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll. Fallon recorded a game-high 12 saves in the loss to Western Connecticut.

This week the men's lacrosse team will travel to Montclair State on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and host Mount Saint Mary on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team posted a runner-up finish at the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship at Island Hills CC and followed with a ninth place finish at the NYU/Manhattanville Spring Invitational at Forest Hill Field Club.

At Island Hills, senior Matt Pollock (Northport, N.Y.) finished in second place individually with rounds of 76 and 68. His day two score of 68 tied the Farmingdale State School Record.

The Rams next will head to Balston Spa CC in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. for the Tim Brown Invitational on April 18th and April 19th.

Softball Update (12-8, 5-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The softball team posted a 4-2 mark in six games last week capped off with a DH sweep of Old Westbury on Senior Day.

Senior outfielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after batting .421 with 7 RBI in six games for FSC. She was 2-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI in game one versus Rutgers-Newark and was 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in game two against CMSV. Mongiello had three hits including a double and triple, 3 RBI and scored one run in game two versus OW. She had hits in 5-of-6 games on the week.

FSC will play five doubleheaders this week: Wednesday vs. St. Joe's - 3:00 p.m., Thursday at NYU - 3:00 p.m., Friday at Sarah Lawrence - 3:30 p.m., Saturday at Purchase - noon and Sunday at Mount Saint Mary - noon.

Baseball Update (9-12, 4-4 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State was 3-4 in seven games last week.

Junior first baseman/pitcher Dalton McCarthy (Manorville, N.Y.) was named Co-Player of the Week. McCarthy hit .435 (10-for-23) with 9 RBI and four runs scored over seven games. He cracked three doubles and a triple, while adding a pair of walks. McCarthy went 4-for-7 with 3 RBI on Apr. 11 in a doubleheader split against MSMC and had two hits and 3 RBI in the Rams' 7-5 win versus Old Westbury on Apr. 12.

Freshman infielder Domenic Palumbo (Plainview, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after going 10-for-24 at the plate with six runs scored. Domenic hit safely in all seven games for FSC.

This week the baseball team will travel to TCNJ on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., host Mount Saint Vincent (DH) on Saturday at noon and host Purchase (DH) on Sunday at noon.
