Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior attack Nate Wilson (Norwich, Conn.) scored a game-high three goals for Western Connecticut as they earned a 9-7 non-conference victory at Farmingdale State tonight. The men's lacrosse team fell to 6-5 on the season.

Trailing 5-3 early in the third period, the Rams pulled within one on a score by sophomore attack Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.) off Mike Strebel's (East Northport, N.Y.) pass. With 8:10 remaining in the third, junior attack Jesse Beatty (Redding, Conn.) scored to bring the Western Connecticut (2-9) advantage back to two, 6-4.

The Rams again cut the deficit to one on a goal from senior midfielder Donovan Devaney (East Northport, N.Y.) with 2:57 left in the period. After a Colonials score, junior attack Conor Pittard (Setauket, N.Y.) netted the feed from Nicholas Casazza (Seaford, N.Y.) to close out the third period with Farmingdale State trailing 7-6.

Western Connecticut scored back-to-back goals to extend their lead to 9-6 with 2:00 remaining in the game. Strebel added a late score for FSC as the Rams fell, 9-7.

Strebel had a team-high two goals, while Devaney had one goal, five ground balls and was 11-for-17 on face-offs. Junior midfielder Ryan Corbett* (Plainview, N.Y.) matched Devaney's team-leading five ground balls and junior defender Dylan Bates (Wading River, N.Y.) caused a game-high four turnovers.

Western Connecticut's senior goalkeeper Kevin Seery (East Lyme, Conn.) stopped five shots in the win, while junior Thomas Fallon (Kings Park, N.Y.) had 12 saves for the Rams.

Farmingdale State next will head to Montclair State for a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, April 15th at 7:00 p.m.
