- Rams Walk for Crohn's and Colitis; Spread Holiday Cheer for Kids -

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Coach Sean Chamberlain and the Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team have been busy in the community this season, first attending a walk for Crohn's and Colitis this fall before stopping at the Saul and Elaine Seiff Educare Center for the Holidays.

On October 19th, the Rams headed to Stony Brook University for the Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis Walk, a family-friendly community walk dedicated to raising awareness and mission-critical funds for cures for digestive diseases. In the past five years alone, Take Steps has succeeded in bringing together over 100,000 people and raised close to $40 million to help further Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America's mission. Eighty cents of every dollar raised goes towards breakthrough research, public and professional education, and patient support services in communities across the nation.

On December 19th, the Rams teamed up with coaches and players from 91 Lacrosse to bring holiday cheer to the kids at the Saul and Elaine Seiff Educare Center in Bohemia, N.Y. Amongst 10 rooms in the Center, the players and coaches distributed gifts and spent time with the children as Santa made his way to each room.

When asked about the event, Chamberlain stated that "our student-athletes are going to be very active in the community and everyone involved had such a great time. The children at AHRC were very excited, as were our kids, who got just as much out of it."

Suffolk AHRC (Association for the Help of Retarded Children) realizes that it takes more than an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) to help intellectually and physically disabled children reach their full potential. Students served in our Educare Center receive a combination of health and educational services tailored to support their strengths and abilities.
