2014 Men's Lacrosse Season Recap

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The men's lacrosse team finished the 2014 season with an 8-6 record. The Rams fell 15-7 at Kean in the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Playoffs.

Farmingdale State had five players named All-Skyline as junior attack Philip Schaefer (Holbrook, N.Y.) was named First Team, while sophomore midfielder Ryan Corbett (Plainview, N.Y.), freshman midfielder Daniel Desimone (Plainview, N.Y.), junior midfielder Donovan Devaney (Northport, N.Y.) and freshman defender Steven Marxhausen (Levittown, N.Y.) received Second Team honors.

Schaefer led the team in goals (34), assists (14) and points (48) and was second in ground balls (36) and third in man-up scores (3). Devaney, who scored nine goals and added five assists, was 143-for-227 in face-offs this year. Devaney was 28th in the Nation in face-off win percentage and 43rd with a 6.71 ground balls per game average, while freshman attack Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.) was second on FSC in goals (29), points (34) and man-up goals (4).

Desimone tallied 19 points (13 G, 6 A) and a team-leading three game-winning goals and junior attack Tom Rotanz (Wading River, N.Y.) recorded 28 points on 14 goals and 14 assists.

Marxhausen caused a team-high 29 turnovers and picked up 34 ground balls. He ranked 28th in Divsion III after causing 2.23 turnovers per game.

Farmingdale State graduated three seniors this year.
