Skyline Releases Spring Weekly Report #8

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report #8 on Monday, April 21st, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Women's Lacrosse Update (16-1, 7-0 Skyline) - Full Report

Junior midfielder Nicole Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y.) picked up Player of the Week honors for the third time this season. In the Rams' lone contest, Marzocca scored three goals and registered a career-high seven assists as FSC captured the Skyline regular-season crown with an 18-10 win over St. Joseph's. She also added six draw controls and a caused turnover.

This week the top-seeded Rams will host #4 College of Mount Saint Vincent in the Skyline Semifinals on Wednesday, April 23rd at 4:00 p.m.

The winner will play for the Skyline Championship on Saturday, April 26th at the highest remaining seed.

Men's Tennis Update (7-5, 4-2 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State went 1-1 for the week, downing Brooklyn 6-3 and falling to Ramapo, 6-3.

Freshman Tyler Danzy (Central Islip, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Rookie of the Week for the second time, after registering a pair of straight-set victories at the No. 1 singles flight. He recorded a 6-0, 6-0 decision versus Brooklyn and posted a 6-3, 6-3 result against Ramapo.

This week the #3 Rams will face #2 Yeshiva in the Skyline Semifinals on Thursday, April 24th at 8:00 p.m. at the Binghamton Racquet Club in Edgewater, N.J.

Men's Golf Update

For the first time in school history, the Rams captured the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship at Island Hills CC in Sayville, N.Y. Farmingdale State shot a 2-day total of 590 to finish 25 strokes ahead of runner-up Dowling College.

Freshman Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) was the individual champion after back to back 71's and senior Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) finished 2nd (77-68).

The Rams next will travel to Knollwood CC in Elmsford, N.Y. for a dual-match vs. St. Joe's on Friday, April 25th.

Baseball Update (18-10, 8-5 Skyline) - Full Report

The baseball team went 2-1 this week with an 8-2 victory over Staten Island on Thursday, before splitting at Purchase with a 3-2 loss and a 10-inning 2-1 victory.

Junior shortstop Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Honor Roll after collecting four hits in six at-bats with a pair of doubles for Farmingdale State.

This week the Rams will travel to Mount Saint Vincent on Friday, April 25th to play game two of their Skyline doubleheader. They will wrap up regular-season play at home on Saturday, April 26th with a doubleheader vs. St. Joe's at Noon. The Skyline Playoffs will be held May 2-4 at a site to be determined.

Softball Update (19-11, 10-4 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams were perfect this week as they swept both Staten Island and Purchase for a 4-0 week.

Sophomore catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Player of the Week for the second time this season. She collected eight hits in 14 at-bats (.571) with eight runs scored and five RBI as FSC secured a berth in the upcoming Skyline Championship. Her triple, home run, three walks and two doubles was a single shy of hitting for the cycle in the Rams' 8-1 win over Purchase. Her RBI double in the sixth inning versus Staten Island gave the Rams a 3-2 win. Her 17 doubles are a program single-season record.

Two Rams were also named to the Honor Roll...junior pitcher Taylor Tedeschi (Levittown, N.Y.) went 2-0 in the circle while allowing just three runs over 14.0 innings pitched, while freshman first baseman Lori Michalowski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) went 6-for-9 with three doubles.

The softball team will wrap up the regular-season schedule on Tuesday, April 22nd with a non-conference doubleheader against Briarcliffe at 3:30 p.m.

Men's Lacrosse Update (8-5, 4-2 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's lacrosse team went 2-0 this week, defeating Mount Saint Vincent 14-9 and Stockton 9-8 in overtime on Saturday afternoon. Freshman midfielder Daniel Desimone (Plainview, N.Y.) notched the game winner in OT with 0.9 seconds remaining.

Freshman goalkeeper Nicholas Fasano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Rookie of the Week. He entered the Stockton game after halftime with the game tied 7-7, he registered eight saves while allowing just one goal as Farmingdale State came away with the 9-8 OT victory. He also notched four saves and yielded five goals in 46:21 in the Rams win versus Mount Saint Vincent.

Junior attack Phillip Schaefer (Holbrook, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after scoring five goals, a pair of assists and six ground balls for the week.

Farmingdale State will have a week off until the Skyline Semifinals as the #3 seed on Wednesday, April 30th.

Men's and Women's Outdoor Track

This past weekend Farmingdale State competed in the CTC Championships, hosted by Stockton College in Galloway, N.J. The men finished in 8th place as a team, while the women finished 14th.

Senior Daquan Grant (Copiague, N.Y.) won the Triple Jump with a season-best 13.47m (45' 1/4") mark, improving his ECAC qualifying distance.

The women were led by sophomore Erin Donovan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) who placed 4th in the High Jump, 10th in the Hammer Throw and 12th in the Discus. She tied or set personal bests in every event.

The outdoor track teams now will head to the Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Friday, April 25th.
