Farmingdale State - 9, Stockton - 8 F/OT
Farmingdale, N.Y. - Freshman midfielder Daniel Desimone (Plainview, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal with 0.9 seconds remaining in overtime leading Farmingdale State to a 9-8 victory over Stockton on senior day.
Tied 4-4 with 3:26 remaining in the first period, sophomore midfielder Damian Romanelli (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) scored to give the Rams (8-5, 4-2) a 5-4 lead. Only six seconds later, junior attack Philip Schaefer (Holbrook, N.Y.) scored off the pass from Tom Rotanz (Wading River, N.Y.) to extend the advantage to 6-4. Senior midfielder Andrew Incanalupo (Shirley, N.Y.) tallied an unassisted goal to put Farmingdale State ahead by three at the end of the first period.
Stockton (12-5, 3-3) scored all three goals in the second period to send the game into halftime tied 7-7.
Schaefer recorded his third goal of the game with 12:05 left in the third to put the Rams back ahead, 8-7.
Stockton freshman defender Lance Pecina (Clark, N.J.) scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 8-8 with 11:15 remaining. Neither team would score the remainder of the fourth period.
With 1:06 remaining in overtime, Farmingdale State freshman goalkeeper Nicholas Fasano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) stopped a shot by Vinny Gencarelli (Morris Hills, N.J.) to gain possession for the Rams. After a shot wide with 17 seconds left on the clock, Desimone scored the game-winning goal with only 0.9 seconds remaining in overtime.
Schaefer scored a game-high three goals, while Rotanz had a goal and two assists. Junior midfielder Donovan Devaney (East Northport, N.Y.) was 14-for-20 on face-offs and picked up a game-high eight ground balls. Fasano stopped eight shots and allowed only one goal in 34 minutes of action.
Seniors Al Rocco (Elmont, N.Y.), Vincent Aniano (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Incantalupo were each honored for senior day.
The Ospreys were led by Gencarelli who tallied three goals and junior attack Nick Bologno (Voorhees, N.J.) who had a game-high five points on two goals and three assists.
The opening round of the Skyline Conference playoffs is Wednesday, April 30th.
