Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team improved to 3-2 in the conference and 7-5 overall after this afternoon's 14-9 victory over Mount Saint Vincent.

Trailing 3-1 late in the first period, a man-down score by junior attack Philip Schaefer (Holbrook, N.Y.) and a man-up score from freshman attack Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.) evened the game at 3-3.

Tied 4-4 entering the second period, an unassisted score by freshman midfielder Ryan McArdle (East Northport, N.Y.) gave Farmingdale State their first lead of the game. After the Rams increased the advantage to 6-4, freshman midfielder Daniel Desimone (Plainview, N.Y.) tallied a man-up goal off the pass from Mike Strebel (East Northport, N.Y.) with 22 seconds left in the half.

Mount Saint Vincent (5-7, 0-5) cut the deficit to two only 36 seconds after the break, before three straight Farmingdale State goals increased the lead to 10-5.

The Dolphins would close within two early in the fourth period but Farmingdale State scored the games final three goals to seal the victory.

Junior attack Tom Rotanz (Wading River, N.Y.) had four points on three goals and one assist, while Rifice scored three. Junior midfielder Donovan Devaney (East Northport, N.Y.) was 16-for-23 on face-offs and picked up a game-high 13 grounds balls and Schaefer recorded four points scoring two goals and adding two assists.

The Dolphins were led by junior midfielder Pat McEnaney (New York, N.Y.), senior attack John Petito (Staten Island, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Germain Ngaba (Bronx, N.Y.) who all scored two goals. Senior goalkeeper Kyle Kalibat (Oceanside, N.Y.) stopped 13 shots in 56 minutes of action.

The Rams next will host Stockton in a Skyline Conference game for senior day on Saturday, April 19th at 1:00 p.m.
