Rams Drop Home Contest Against #11 Montclair State

#11 Montclair State - 15, Farmingdale State - 7


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The 11th-ranked Red Hawks of Montclair State led 9-4 at half on their way to a 15-7 Skyline Conference win over Farmingdale State this afternoon. The Rams dropped to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while Montclair State now stands at 11-1, 4-0.

The Red Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead, before junior attack Philip Schaefer (Holbrook, N.Y.) scored an unassisted goal with 2:24 left in the first to cut the deficit in half. Junior attack Michael Jevic (Voorhees, N.J.) scored late in the period to give Montclair State a 3-1 advantage.

Montclair State increased their lead to 9-3, before Farmingdale State freshman midfielder Ryan McArdle (East Northport, N.Y.) connected off the pass from Tom Rotanz (Wading River, N.Y.) with one second left in the first half to send the Rams into the break trailing 9-4.

Trailing 10-4, back-to-back goals by Schaefer and freshman midfielder Daniel Desimone (Plainview, N.Y.) pulled the Rams within four with 9:39 left to play in the third period. The Red Hawks scored the final two goals of the period to extend the advantage back to six, 12-6.

Farmingdale State was outscored 3-1 in the final period as they fell 15-7 to #11 Montclair State.

Schaefer tallied a game-high four goals, while junior midfielder Donovan Devaney (East Northport, N.Y.) picked up a game-high six ground balls.

The Red Hawks were led by sophomore attack Don Finn (Wall, N.J.) who had six points on four goals and two assists, while senior attack Sam Morrissey (Hackettstown, N.J.) and junior midfielder Shane Raymond (Old Bridge, N.J.) each had three goals and an assist.

Sophomore goalkeeper Thomas Fallon (Kings Park, N.Y.) and freshman Nicholas Fasano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) each recorded 10 saves for the Rams and senior Mike Dorn (Blairstown, N.J.) stopped 12 shots for Montclair State.

The Rams next will host Mount Saint Vincent in a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, April 16th at 4:00 p.m.
