Rotanz and Rifice Each Score Five in Win at Maritime

Throggs Neck, N.Y. - Junior attack Tom Rotanz (Wading River, N.Y.) and freshman attack Tyler Rifice (Bohemia, N.Y.) each scored a game-high five goals as Farmingdale State earned a 21-8 Skyline Conference victory at Maritime this afternoon.

Leading 5-1 to start the second period, Rotanz scored off the feed by senior midfielder Andrew Incantalupo (Shirley, N.Y.) and Rifice tallied a goal 56 seconds later to put the Rams (5-3, 1-0) ahead 7-1. After a man-up score by freshman midfielder Daniel Desimone (Plainview, N.Y.), the Privateers (4-6, 0-1) closed the half with back-to-back goals as Farmingdale State took an 8-3 lead into halftime.

The Rams pulled away in the third period outscoring Maritime 7-1 to extend the lead to 15-4. Farmingdale State held a 6-4 advantage in the final period and won their first Skyline game of the season, 21-8.

Rotanz had a game-leading nine points with five goals and four assists, while junior attack Philip Schaefer (Holbrook, N.Y.) recorded eight points on three goals and five assists.

Maritime was led by senior midfielder Andrew Scalesi (New Fairfield, Conn.) and freshman attack Zachary Pace (Monroe Township, N.J.) who each scored a team-high two goals.

Sophomore goalkeeper Thomas Fallon (Kings Park, N.Y.) played the first half and saved six shots, while freshman Nicholas Fasano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) tallied 10 saves in 25 minutes of action for Farmingdale State.

The Rams next will travel to Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, April 5th at 2:30 p.m.
