Schaefer Leads Rams in Win at Manhattanville

Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team improved to 3-2 overall with a 16-9 victory over Manhattanville College (0-7) on Wednesday night. The Rams were led by junior attack Philip Schaefer (Holbrook, N.Y.) with five goals.

Farmingdale State led 5-1 after the first period and held the 8-5 edge at the break. Over the final two periods they held the Valiants to four goals en route to the non-conference win. The Rams finished with 46 ground balls to Manhattanville's 29, and also won 18-of-27 faceoffs.

Schaefer totaled five goals, one assist and four ground balls for Farmingdale State. Junior midfielder Mike Strebel (East Northport, N.Y.) tallied two goals and one assist. Junior midfielder Donovan Devaney (East Northport, N.Y.) scored two goals, picked up a team-high nine ground balls and won 9 of his 13 faceoffs. Senior midfielder Vincent Aniano (Oceanside, N.Y.) also finished with a team-high nine ground balls. Freshman goalkeeper Nicholas Fasano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) got the win with four saves.

The Rams now host Misericordia on Saturday, March 22nd at 1:00 p.m.
