Skyline Releases Spring Weekly Report #3

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report #3 on Monday, March 18th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Softball Update (3-7, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The softball team returned home from their season opening spring trip in Florida with a 3-7 record.

Freshman catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Anderson batted .438 (14-for-32) over 10 games with nine runs scored and two RBI. She collected at least one hit in all 10 contests, including three doubles, a triple and a home run. Anderson stole three bases and tallied a pair of walks.

This week the Rams open Skyline Conference play as they host Old Westbury in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 23rd at noon and St. Joseph's on Sunday, March 24th at 12:00 p.m.

Baseball Update (6-8, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State recorded a 1-2 record this week with a 6-2 loss at Division I Hofstra University and a home split against Southern Maine.

Freshman pitcher Alex Weingarten (East Rockaway, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week honors. Weingarten did not allow an earned run over seven innings in a pair of appearances. He yielded just one hit over four innings on Sunday vs. Southern Maine and earned the save in the Rams' 5-1 win. This week Weingarten struck out one and did not walk a batter. He had two K's over three innings at Hofstra. Freshman 1B/DH Dalton McCarthy (Manorville, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Honor Roll. McCarthy batted .444 and was a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts.

The baseball team will host Mount Saint Vincent in a DH on Saturday, March 23rd at noon and travel to Old Westbury on Sunday, March 24th at 12:00 p.m.

Men's Tennis Update (1-0, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's tennis team won their first match of the season after recording a 7-2 home victory against John Jay. The match on Saturday versus Hunter was postponed due to snow/rain.

Senior Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. Bessarabov picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win in third singles and paired with Steven Ferrantello (Dix Hills, N.Y.) for an 8-1 win at #2 doubles.

Women's Lacrosse Update (3-1, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams posted a 2-1 record this week earning wins over Old Westbury and Western Connecticut State.

Sophomore attack Nicole Marzocca (West Babylon, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. Marzocca compiled 17 points on 11 goals and six assists in three games.

This week the women's lacrosse team will host Tufts University in a non-conference game on Tuesday, March 19th at 4:00 p.m. and then travel to Mount Saint Mary on Thursday, March 21st at 7:00 p.m. and Maritime on Saturday, March 23rd at 1:00 p.m.

Men's Lacrosse Update (1-4, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State suffered a 13-5 loss at Guilford on Wednesday and a 15-8 defeat at McDaniel on Saturday.

This week the Rams will host Manhattanville on Wednesday, March 20th at 4:00 p.m. and kick off conference play with a home game on Saturday, March 23rd at 1:00 p.m.
