Guilford - 7, Farmingdale State - 5

Greensboro, N.C. – Henry Farley's unassisted goal midway through the fourth quarter broke a 5-5 draw and would send Guilford College to a 7-5 men's lacrosse win over visiting Farmingdale State College Wednesday afternoon.

Farley's lone tally broke the game's third and final tie in a defensive struggle. The junior attackman circled around to the front of the goal and fired while diving away from Rams' goalkeeper Patrick Delventhal for a 6-5 Guilford lead. Freshman Chandler Zirkle sealed the win with a key insurance goal with 1:46 left in regulation.

A slashing penalty gave Farmingdale (1-4) a minute-long man-up opportunity in the final 70 seconds. The Quakers (5-2) killed off the penalty and held the Rams to one shot, a point-blank blast by Bobby Thomas that Guilford goalie Thomas Deane stopped for his 11th save of the game.

Taylor Teodosio scored twice, leading a list of Guilford's six different goal scorers. His unassisted tally off a strong drive to the cage gave Guilford a 5-4 lead two seconds before halftime. Nick Mann contributed a goal and an assist for the Quakers, who held a narrow 32-31 edge in shots. Sam Newland won nine-of-14 face-offs for Guilford and the Quakers picked up 31 ground balls to Farmingdale State's 15. Deane and Juquan Tellis shared game-high honors with six pickups apiece.

Tim Caden scored a goal and an assist for Farmingdale State. Thomas led all scorers with three points off of three assists. Delventhal made 13 saves and picked up three of the Rams' ground balls. Jack Radin caused a game-high three turnovers.

Guilford opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Saturday (3/17) versus visiting Randolph College at 1:00 p.m. Farmingdale State continues its trip to North Carolina Saturday at Greensboro College for another non-conference game at 1:00 p.m.
