Men's Lacrosse Receives Nine All-Conference Honors

- Hubschmitt, Oswald, Owsinski, Rocco, Galante, Nerney, Caden, Bonaguro and Morales named All-Skyline, Tim Tuttle named Coach of the Year -


The Skyline Conference released the 2011 All-Conference Men's Lacrosse selections on Tuesday, May 3rd. Senior Wes Hubschmitt of Farmingdale State has been named the 2011 Skyline Men's Lacrosse Player of the Year in voting conducted among the Conference's seven head coaches.

The Skyline coaches also selected Richard Cheifitz of Kean as the Rookie of the Year and Tim Tuttle of Farmingdale State as Coach of the Year. In addition, Maritime received the Team Sportsmanship Award.
 
Hubschmitt leads the league with 35 assists and ranks second in points with 59. The senior attacker from Seaford, N.Y., scored 24 goals, including a pair of game-winning tallies, and led the Rams with 49 ground balls. Hubschmitt garnered Skyline Player of the Week distinction on Mar. 28 and scored a team-high three goals in Farmingdale State's 9-7 loss to Montclair State on Apr. 30 in the finals of the 2011 Skyline Championship.
 
A three-time Rookie of the Week selection, Cheifitz scored 23 goals and dished out eight assists, while his 85 shots were good for second on the team. The attacker from Fair Lawn, N.J., added 24 ground balls and five caused turnovers. He was also named to the All-Conference second-team.
 
Now in his fourth season at Farmingdale State, Tuttle guided the Rams to a perfect 6-0 mark in Conference action and a program-best 10-5 overall record. Earning the top seed for the first time in program history, FSC edged Kean, 7-6, in the semifinals of the 2011 Skyline Championship on Apr. 27 before dropping a 9-7 decision to Montclair State in the finals. A 1994 graduate of NYIT, Tuttle boasts a career record of 30-32.
 
The 2011 All-Conference first-team consists of Montclair State's Anthony Dzienkiewicz, Robert Glander, Tyler Meth andRobert Sinicola; Joe Galante, Brian Nerney, Ryan Oswald, Jimmy Owsinski and Al Rocco of Farmingdale State; Kean's Nick Angrisani and Chris Masiulis; TJ Beaudette of Maritime; and Richard Stockton's Matt Bologno. Meth was recently named the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 Skyline Championship after scoring three goals in the Red Hawks' 9-7 win over Farmingdale State.
 
Joining Cheifitz on the second-team All-Conference are Maritime teammates Michael Hanratty, Ryan Honey, Matthew Messina and Steven Tonn; Scott Bonaguro, Tim Caden and Ricky Morales of Farmingdale State; Montclair State's Mark Glander, Dustin Malaszuk and Jack Skeels; and Mike Shea of Mount Saint Vincent.
