Rams Drop Non-Conference Game at Christopher Newport

Newport News, Va. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team fell, 13-8, in a non-conference game at Christopher Newport University Tuesday afternoon. The Rams now hold a 2-4 overall record, while the Captains improved to 4-3.

Trailing 4-0 entering the second period, junior midfielder Tim Caden (Setauket, N.Y.) scored an unassisted goal to bring the Rams within three of Christopher Newport. The Warriors responded with three goals in 1:13 and quickly held a 7-1 advantage. Junior attack Ryan Oswald (Floral Park, N.Y.) netted an unassisted goal before junior attack Erick Thomson (Floral Park, N.Y.) scored a man-down, closing the deficit to 7-3 with 3:09 remaining before the break. Christopher Newport's Rob Koster (Vienna, Va.) scored with two seconds on the clock, giving the Warriors an 8-3 halftime edge.

Koster and sophomore midfielder Kyle Pasta (Hampstead, Md.) scored back-to-back goals to start the third period for Christopher Newport. Farmingdale State answered with two scores of their own by Caden and senior attack Wes Hubschmitt (Seaford, N.Y.).

The Rams trailed 11-6 to start the fourth period, but managed to score only two goals and fell 13-8.

Junior midfielder Jimmy Owsinski (Kings Park, N.Y.) had two goals and recorded two assists for four points. Hubschmitt scored once and had three assists, while Caden and Oswald scored two goals apiece for Farmingdale State. Senior midfielder Frank Limanni (Massapequa, N.Y.) picked up a game-high seven ground balls.

The Warriors were led by Koster who had four goals and three assists for a game-high seven points. Sophomore midfielder Chase Walton (Burke, Va.) tallied three goals, while sophomore Teddy Pekalski (Cranston, R.I.) caused four turnovers.

The Rams next will travel to Vassar on Saturday, March 26th at 2:00 p.m.
