2009 Men's Lacrosse Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men’s lacrosse team finished the year with an overall record of 6-10 and held a 2-3 record in the Skyline Conference. The Rams won their last two conference games, earning the #4 seed and final spot in the Skyline playoffs. They fell on the road in the semifinal round to top-seed Montclair State.

Freshman attack Erick Thomson was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week 5-out of-9 weeks this season. He led the team and conference in assists per game (2.21), led the team in points (63), was second in the conference in points per game (4.36) and scored 31 goals. Senior attack Sean Maxwell and freshman defender Chris JapNgie started all 16 games for Farmingdale. Maxwell scored 27 goals and had 16 assists; while JapNgie led the team with 28 caused turnovers and had 51 ground balls.

Senior midfielder Mike Maxwell scored a team-high 33 goals this season and sophomore midfielder Joe Stroessenreuther scored 25 goals, had 17 assists, and picked up 63 ground balls for the Rams. Senior Teddy Leone and freshman Patrick Delventhal split time in goal this season for Farmingdale. Leone started 11 games in goal, allowing 11.5 goals per game and held a .502 save percentage, while Delventhal started four games and held a .519 save percentage.
