Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior midfielder Mike Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) and senior goalkeeper Teddy Leone (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) led the Rams to a 14-12 conference victory over Skyline opponent Maritime College (7-4, 2-1) on Wednesday afternoon. Maxwell finished with a game-high six goals and Leone made 17 saves as Farmingdale State improved to 4-9, 1-3 in the Skyline.

Rams sophomore midfielder Joe Stroessenreuther (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) and sophomore attack Eddie Rifice (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) netted goals in the first period, which would finish in a 2-2 tie, before Maritime scored six goals in the second period to hold an 8-6 halftime lead.

Farmingdale came out after the break with two straight goals from Maxwell in the first two minutes, tying the game at 8-8. Sophomore midfielder Michael Hanratty (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) scored at 10:49 to put Maritime ahead 9-8, but Maxwell scored the next two goals to give Farmingdale the advantage, 10-9. Stroessenreuther scored his second of the day with 3:52 left in the third period, putting the Rams on top 11-9. Sophomore attack Alex Korb (Islip, N.Y./Islip) and junior midfielder Stephen Doherty (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) connected twice for the Privateers before the end of the third to make the score 11-11.

In the fourth, freshman attack Erick Thomson (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) scored on a pass from freshman midfielder Joe Nacarlo (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon), followed by a goal from freshman attack Bill McGarvey (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville), giving the Rams the lead, 13-11.

Korb netted Maritime's final goal with 5:36 left to play and Maxwell tallied his final goal of the day as the Rams held on for the victory.

Privateer junior goalkeeper Colin Gallagher (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) made 13 saves over the first 44 minutes of play.

Farmingdale's Thomson tied a school record with eight assists today. Freshman defender Chris JapNgie (Massapequa, N.Y./Holy Trinity) led the team with four caused turnovers and freshman defender Bobby Lazos (Bellmore, N.Y./Holy Trinity) caused three turnovers.

Farmingdale State will host Centenary College on Wednesday, April 22nd at 4:00 p.m.
