Vassar Outruns Rams for Non-Conference Victory

Vassar College - 15, Farmingdale State - 9


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference matchup this evening, 15-9, against Vassar College at Allen Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams fell to 3-8 on the season, while the Brewers now hold an overall record of 4-6.

Over the first two periods, Farmingdale State surrendered twelve goals and trailed by 10 at the half. The Rams outplayed the Brewers over the final two periods scoring seven goals, while only allowing three, but could not overcome the first half deficit.

The Vassar scoring was led by junior attack Sean Murray (Wyckoff, N.J./Deer Field Academy) who had two goals and two assists for a team-high four points. Four players scored two goals for the Brewers and five other players scored one. Sophomore defender Zach Beauchamp (Tempe, AZ/Brophy Prep.) picked up a game-high 11 ground balls and led the team with four caused turnovers. Vassar sophomore goalkeeper Alex Tice (Oakland, CA/St. Ignatius Prep.) made six saves for the win. 

Freshman attack Erick Thomson (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) scored one goal and added three assists to lead Farmingdale. Senior attack Sean Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) finished with three goals and six ground balls, while freshmen defenders Chris JapNgie (Massapequa, N.Y./Holy Trinity) and Bobby Lazos (Bellmore, N.Y./Holy Trinity) caused three turnovers each for the Rams. Senior goalkeeper Teddy Leone (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) made nine saves for Farmingdale.

The Rams will now host Kean in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, April 11th at 1:00pm.
