Orangeburg, N.Y. - The Dominican College men's lacrosse team defeated non-conference opponent Farmingdale State, 17-6, this afternoon at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

The Rams netted the game's first goal off the stick of senior attacker Sean Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y.) with the assist by junior Thomas Weil (St. James, N.Y.). The Chargers answered back with two straight goals from freshman Korin Pierce (Middleburg, Va.) off passes from senior Jeremy Arcaro (New Windsor, N.Y.) to take a 2-1 advantage.

Senior Mike Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y.) tied the game for FSC with 5:00 minutes remaining in the first quarter, but the Chargers came back to close out the quarter with two consecutive goals from Arcaro to give DC a 4-2 lead.

DC did all the scoring in the second quarter as midfielder Gabe Sutherland (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) netted a goal, followed by two more from Arcaro and the half's final goal was scored by senior Stephen Polizzi (Walden, N/Y/) as the Chargers took an 8-2 lead.

The Rams cut the deficit in half to start out the third quarter as Bill McGarvey (Sayville, N.Y.) netted an unassisted goal, followed by one from M. Maxwell. Dominican went on to outscore FSC 4-1, to take a 12-5 lead into the fourth quarter.

Andrew Rendine (River Edge, N.J.) netted the first goal of the fourth quarter to put DC up 13-5, before FSC got a goal from sophomore Eddie Rifice (Babylon, N.Y.) to cut the lead to 13-6. Dominican closed out the game with four unanswered goals en route to the 17-6 victory.

The Rams were led by M. Maxwell, S. Maxwell and Joey Stroessenreuther (Bethpage, N.Y.) all with two goals a piece for two points. Patrick Delventhal (Westbury, N.Y.) made seven saves in 45:00 minutes of play.

Dominican was led by Arcaro with a game high eight points (six goals, two assists). Rendine and Sutherland each netted three goals with Rendine adding three assists for six points , while Pierce finished with two goals in the win. Sophomore goalie Brendan Bonacum (Port Jefferson Station, NY) had eight saves in 45:00, while Tim Manzella (Riverhead, NY) had two saves in the final 15:00 minutes.

With the victory Dominican improves to 2-6 overall, while Farmingdale State falls to 3-6.
