Rams Run Past Cobleskill in 17-5 Win

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State (3-3) ran
past SUNY Cobleskill (0-4) with a 17-5 win in today's
non-conference men's lacrosse game in Farmingdale, N.Y. Freshman
attackman Erick Thomson (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) led the
Rams with four goals, three assists and eight ground balls.
Thomson opened the first period with a goal, assisted by senior
attacker Sean Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) for a 1-0
Farmingdale lead. Cobleskill answered with a score from Andrew
Abbott to make it 1-1, but the Rams would score five straight and
hold a 9-3 lead at halftime.
Cobleskill would only score twice more over the final two periods,
as Farmingdale reeled off eight goals and went on for their third
victory of the season.
Sophomore attacker Eddie Rifice (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) finished
the day with three goals and one assist, while junior midfielder
Adam Zuar (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst), sophomore midfielder Joe
Streussenreuther (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) and Maxwell scored two
goals each. Freshman Joe Nacarlo won 10-of-12 faceoffs, scored one
goal and picked up eight ground balls. Freshman goalkeeper Patrick
Delventhal (Westbury, N.Y./Holy Trinity) made 13 saves over the
final two periods, while senior goalkeeper Teddy Leone (East
Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) made three saves for the win.
Abbott finished with three goals for Cobleskill, while junior
goalkeeper Robert McDonald (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst) made 14 saves in
defeat.
Farmingdale State will now host Division II Molloy College on
Wednesday, March 25th at 4:00 p.m.
