Men's Lacrosse Announces 2009 Captains and Schedule
- Maxwell, Leone and Zuar to Lead Rams in '09 -
Farmingdale, N.Y. – Farmingdale State's
Head Men's Lacrosse Coach, Tim Tuttle, is pleased to announce the
Rams 2009 captains and schedule. Senior attackman Sean Maxwell
(West Babylon, N.Y./NYIT), senior goalkeeper Ted Leone (East
Meadow, N.Y./ East Meadow H.S.) and sophomore F/O midfielder Adam
Zuar (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst H.S.) have been chosen as team
captains for the 2009 season.
Sean Maxwell – Senior, a 2008 Second Team
Skyline All-Conference selection, returns to the Rams as their
leader on the offensive side of the field. He scored 22 goals and
had eight assists last year. Sean emerged as a big scoring threat
in '08, having only scored five goals and adding five assists in
his first two seasons with the Rams. "Sean's production was
tremendous for us last season. Learning a new system isn't always
easy for some guys, but Sean adjusted well; we expect big things
from him this season", said Coach Tuttle.
Ted Leone – Senior, also a 2008 Second Team
Skyline All-Conference selection, returns as the leader of an
ever-maturing defense. Ted adjusted well to the new defensive
system upon Coach Tuttle's arrival at Farmingdale State College. He
started all 13 games last season for the Rams and made 205 saves
with a .574 save percentage. "Ted was our team MVP last season,
which was voted on by the players, and we concurred as a staff. Ted
kept us in games - period.", states Coach Tuttle.
Adam Zuar – Sophomore, Adam returns to the
Rams as their #1 faceoff man, he ended last season winning 70 out
of 145 draws with a .483 face-off percentage. "Adam brings more to
our team then just his ability to face-off", said Coach Tuttle.
"He's a constant worker on the field and in the weight room,
wanting to learn all he can to become a better player. He also
carries a 4.0 GPA. I can't wait to see how his game develops during
the 2009 season", added Coach Tuttle.
Farmingdale State lost five games last season by a combined seven
goals, on their way to a 3-10 record, in Tuttle's first season.
With ten players returning and a large recruiting class, Coach
Tuttle hopes to produce more wins. "It takes time to build
anything, just ask the Romans", said Coach Tuttle.
The Rams open up their 2009 campaign at home against Plattsburgh
State on Friday, February 27th. They continue through March on a
7-game homestand, hosting teams such as Oswego State, Wesleyan and
Division II Molloy College. Starting off the month of April, they
will travel to play Dominican College (Division II) and Richard
Stockton, before coming back for another four games at home. They
wrap up the regular season with a conference game away against
Mount Saint Vincent on April 29th.
