2009-10 Men's Lacrosse Season Recap
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men’s
lacrosse team finished the year with an 11-7 overall record. The
Rams earned the number three seed in the Skyline Conference
playoffs after recording a 4-2 conference record and fell in the
semifinal round to Kean University. Farmingdale State recevived the
#3 seed in the ECAC Championship but suffered a tough overtime
loss, 15-14, to Richard Stockton in the semifinals.
The Rams finished the year ranked seventh in Division III in scoring offense as they averaged just under 15 goals per game. The Rams were ranked third in the nation in assists, fifth in points per game and ninth in ground balls per game.
Offensively, Farmingdale was led by attackmen Erick Thomson and Wes Hubschmitt who were each ranked 20th in the nation with 4.11 points per game. Thomson led the team in scoring with 56 goals and was ranked ninth in Division III with a 3.11 goals per game average. Hubschmitt ranked fifth in the nation with 2.61 assists per game and was second on the team with 47 assists this season. Thomson and Hubschmitt each had a team-high 79 points this year.
Freshman attack and team Most Valuable Player Pete Siemsen led the team with 50 assists, placing him second in the nation in that category. He also ranked third on the team with 71 points. Sean Maxwell (56 points) and Rob Nosworthy (53 points) round out a very balanced offensive attack.
Sophomore midfielder Joe Nacarlo held an outstanding .602 face-off win percentage, which ranks him 32nd in Division III.
Chris JapNgie anchored Farmingdale State’s defense as he led the team in caused turnovers and was third on the team with 58 ground balls.
Goalkeeper Patrick Delventhal led the team with 10 wins and 152 saves.
Thomson was named First Team All-Skyline Conference, while Nosworthy, Hubschmitt and Siemsen received Second Team Honors. Siemsen was the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year.
