Rams Close out Regular Season with Win on Senior Day

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team defeated Bard College, 26-0, this afternoon on senior day. Seniors Sean Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) and Gary Sanchez (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) played in their final regular season home game today.

The Rams (11-5, 4-2 Skyline) took control early scoring nine goals in first quarter and added six in the second, to take a 15-0 lead into halftime. Farmingdale State added 11 second half goals en route to a 26-0 victory.

Freshman midfielder Joe Loria (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) scored a game-high four goals for the Rams, while freshman midfielder Mike O'Brien (Garden City, N.Y./The Canterbury School) and sophomore attack Bill McGarvey (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) each scored three times. Maxwell added one goal and two assists. Farmingdale was 27-for-30 on faceoffs (Joe Nacarlo 9-for-10, Adam Zuar 8-for-10, Tom Hartman 6-for-6, Loria 4-for-4).

Freshman goalkeeper Michael Luxemburg (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Day) had 23 saves in the loss for Bard 0-11, 0-6 Skyline.

Maxwell, a four-year player for the Rams, played in 56 games and will be leaving Farmingdale State in 4th place on the All-Time scoring list. He currently holds 85 goals and 43 assists for 128 total points.

Sanchez, a two-year player for Farmingdale, joined the team in 2009 after playing two seasons at Thomas College. Gary is part of a defense that has allowed just 11 goals per game over the past two seasons.

The Rams next will play on Wednesday, April 28th in the Skyline Conference Semifinals against an opponent to be determined.
