Rams Overpower Stockton to Remain Undefeated in Skyline

Farmingdale State - 17, Richard Stockton - 7

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team defeated Richard Stockton College 17-7 today in a Skyline men's lacrosse game to improve to 10-3 overall and remain undefeated (3-0) in the conference. The Ospreys fell to 4-4, 0-2 with the loss.

The first period was scoreless until junior attack Rob Nosworthy (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) gave the Rams a 1-0 lead off an assist from sophomore midfielder Jimmy Owsinski (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park), but 33 seconds later Richard Stockton senior attack Brendan McCarthy (Howell, N.J./Howell) scored on a man-up opportunity to tie the game at 1-1 after 15 minutes of play.

In the second, junior midfielder Sean Haugh (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) sent home a pass from senior midfielder Matt Bell (Jackson, N.J./Jackson) to give the Ospreys the 2-1 lead, but that would be the final lead as Farmingdale State scored five straight to hold the 6-2 advantage at the half.

With three more quick goals in the first five minutes of the third period, the Rams were ahead 9-2. Stockton was able to get two in the third period and trailed 12-4 with one period remaining. The Ospreys scored three man-up goals in the fourth, but it would not be enough as Farmingdale added five goals and went on for the 17-7 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Patrick Delventhal (Westbury, N.Y./Holy Trinity) made 12 saves for the win, while junior attack Wes Hubschmitt (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) and sophomore attack Erick Thomson (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) both tallied a game-high seven points. Thomson scored six goals and one assist, while Hubschmitt scored four goals and three assists. Nosworthy finished with three goals and one assist for the day. Sophomore defender Bobby Lazos (Bellmore, N.Y./Holy Trinity) caused a team-high five turnovers with eight ground balls.

For Stockton, senior goalkeeper Pete Marcelliano (Morristown, N.J./West Morris Mendham) made 18 saves in defeat. Senior defender Alec Chisolm (Jackson, N.J./Jackson) picked up seven ground balls and caused seven turnovers. Bell scored two goals and added three assists.

The Rams will now travel to play Montclair State on Wednesday, April 14th at 8:00 p.m.
