Siemsen and Hubschmitt Assist in Rams Win

Farmingdale State - 17, Briarcliffe - 9

Farmingdale, N.Y. - After a slow start over the first two periods and the game tied at 6-6, the Rams scored eleven goals in the second half to take a 17-9 victory over Briarcliffe College in today's non-conference men's lacrosse game. Freshman attack Pete Siemsen (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) and junior attack Wes Hubschmitt (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) combined for 10 assists and six goals in the win.

Farmingdale State scored four quick goals to take a 10-6 lead with 9:50 on the clock. Briarcliffe's Jeff Orban scored to make it 10-7, before the Rams connected on three more shots late in the third for a 13-7 advantage. Briarcliffe notched two more goals in the third period, but would not score in the fourth, as the Rams rolled to the 17-9 win.

Siemsen was one of three players for Farmingdale scoring four goals, as he finished with four goals and four assists for a team-leading eight points. Sophomore attack Erick Thomson (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) scored four goals and sophomore midfielder Jimmy Owsinski (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) scored four goals.

The faceoffs were controlled by junior midfielder Adam Zuar (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) with 10-of-14 wins and 10 ground balls, while sophomore midfielder Joe Nacarlo (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) was 7-of-14 for the day with eight ground balls. Defensively, sophomore Chris Jap Ngie (Massapequa, N.Y./Holy Trinity) led the Rams with four caused turnovers. Freshman goalkeeper Sean Martin (Huntington Station, N.Y./Walt Whitman) got the victory, taking over the duties in net after halftime and making six saves for the win.

Farmingdale State will host Clark University (Mass.) on Saturday, March 13th in a non-conference game at 1:00 p.m.
