Stockton Rallies in the Fourth and Takes Overtime Victory

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State (2-6, 0-1) fell to Richard Stockton (6-4, 1-0) in overtime today, 12-11, in a Skyline Conference men's lacrosse game in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams held an 11-5 lead going into the fourth period, before Stockton rallied with six unanswered goals and then scored 1:07 into overtime to take the conference victory.

Farmingdale State built up a 4-0 lead after the first and both teams scored four goals in the second to make it 8-4 Rams at halftime. Farmingdale added three more in the third period to hold an 11-5 lead with one period remaining.

The fourth period was all Stockton as they came out scoring the first of six goals eight seconds in from sophomore attacker Josh Dybus(Lyndhurst, N.J./St. Peter's Prep), and added another quick goal from sophomore midfielder Matt Bell (Jackson, N.J./Jackson) eight seconds later to make it 11-7. One minute later junior midfielder Jonathan Kelly (Howell, N.J./Howell) scored to make it 11-8 and with 13:14 left junior attacker Keith Bologno (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees) scored to make it 11-9. Bell added his second of the day with 8:31 on the clock and junior midfielder Anthony Bonjavanni (Howell, N.J./Howell) scored with 1:25 left to play to tie the score and send the teams into a sudden death overtime.

Bologno scored the game-winner for Stockton off a pass from senior defender Dan Abbott (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn).

Senior attacker Joe Meola (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) led the Rams with five goals, while freshman attacker Joey Stroessenreuther (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) scored two goals and had one assist.

Sophomore goalkeeper Pete Marcelliano (Morristown, N.J./West Morris Mendham) made six saves for Richard Stockton, while junior goalkeeper Teddy Leone (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) made 22 saves in defeat.

The Rams will play next at Montclair State on Saturday, April 12th at 1:00 p.m. in another Skyline Conference game.
