Farmingdale, N.Y. - A five goal rally by Catholic University (4-2) proved to be the deciding factor in a 9-7 loss by the Rams today in a non-conference men's lacrosse game in Farmingdale, N.Y. Farmingdale State (0-4) held a 2-0 lead after the first period and a 5-2 lead at the half, but the Cardinals would counter in the second half and take the victory.

Two goals from senior attackman Joe Meola (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) and sophomore midfielder Paul Randazzo (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) would give the Rams a 2-0 lead going into the second. Meola added his second goal of the day three minutes in, before Catholic's Kyle Brant (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's) got his team on the board with an unassisted goal to make it 3-1.

Freshman attackman Jo Stroessenreuther (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) scored another Farmingdale goal to make it a 4-1 edge and teammate junior attackman Sean Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) added a goal to give the Rams a 5-1 edge with four minutes to go in the half. Brant scored his second of the day with 2:26 left and we would go into the break with 5-2 on the scoreboard.

In the third period, Catholic scored five unanswered goals to take a 7-5 lead. In the fourth, they added one more to make it 8-5 and Stroessenreuther and Maxwell scored the next two for Farmingdale for an 8-7 game with 7:26 remaining on the clock. The Rams had their chances but couldn't find the back of the net to tie it up and Catholic's Brant added an insurance goal with 3:49 left in the fourth.

Farmingdale State junior goalkeeper Teddy Leone (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) made 18 saves in defeat, while senior Greg Kavazanjian (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) made seven saves for Catholic.

The Rams will now travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on Wednesday, March 26th for another non-conference game at 4:00 p.m.
