The men's lacrosse team finished 5-10 this year, but finished the season strong with a big senior day win over Kean University. Farmingdale had one member of the team named to the Skyline All-Conference team in senior captain and midfielder Ryan LaFlare. LaFlare became Farmingdale's all-time leading scorer this season. The All-Skyline Men's Lacrosse team was announced on Wednesday, May 2nd with one Farmingdale player receiving All-Conference recognition. Senior captain and midfielder Ryan LaFlare (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) was named First Team All-Skyline. Ryan finished with eight goals, two assists and 18 ground balls to lead the Rams this week. He notched one goal against Stevens with 0 seconds remaining in the game, before posting seven goals (including the game-winner) and two assists and the 20-16 upset over Kean on Saturday afternoon. Ryan now has 124 goals and 31 assists for a career total of 155 points entering his final week of play for Farmingdale State. Farmingdale State senior goalkeeper Kevin Winters (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll for men's lacrosse on Monday, April 9th. Winters had a great game despite the Rams tough 9-8 loss to Maritime College last week. During that game, he faced 51 shots and made 23 saves for a .719 save percentage. Kevin has played 442 minutes this season, starting 8-of-10 games for the Rams. He has made 119 saves so far with a goals against average of 12.07 and a save percentage of 57.2%...

Senior midfielder Ryan LaFlare (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) was named the Skyline Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week and the Division III ECAC Metro Region Player of the Week for his play during the week of March 26th-April 1st. LaFlare recorded 12 points on 11 goals and one assist while also picking up 21 ground balls in a 2-1 week in Skyline Conference play. LaFlare became the Rams' leader in career goals with the first of his four against Centenary. He also scored three goals against Mount Saint Vincent and had four goals and nine ground balls against Montclair State. LaFlare now has 25 goals on the season and 110 for his career...

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team won their first game of the season today with an exciting 13-11 conference win over the visiting Manhattanville Valiants (3-1, 0-1). The Rams improved to 1-5 overall and 1-0 in the Skyline Conference with the victory. Manhattanville opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal by sophomore Shannon Sturz (Pound Ridge, N.Y./Fox Lane) just 36 seconds into the first. Senior Ryan LaFlare (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) tied up the game with an unassisted goal of his own at the 12-minute mark. The Skyline Conference released the Preseason Spring Coaches' Polls on Wednesday, March 7th. Men's Lacrosse received a fourth place ranking, while baseball was picked to finish fifth and softball and women's lacrosse hold a sixth place ranking. The polls will give the Rams something to focus on as they start their spring seasons, as many of the teams look to show the conference where they should really stand in the rankings. Spring reporting starts next week on Monday, March 12th when the Conference announces the Player and Rookie of the Week in each sport and also releases the overall statistics for the first time this season...

Last season was a year of major injuries and some sloppy play, which left the Rams under .500 and out of post-season play for the first time in three years. 2007 begins with some disappointment, alongside some great surprise and optimism. Although some veteran players have not returned for '07, two players lost last year are back and ready to go. In last years opening game, senior Mike Cullen suffered a double compound fracture and dislocation of his ankle. He has healed well and the NCAA gave him back his senior year of eligibility due to his season-ending injury. Also lost early last season was junior Joe Meola, who sprained his ACL in a collision with the goalie in the Rams overtime victory against Lasell. Joe was given back his junior year of eligibility and after working through knee rehab over the past months, he is healthy and ready to resume being the team's playmaker...
