Men's Basketball Defeated at St. Joseph's-Long Island

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's basketball team suffered a road Skyline Conference setback Saturday afternoon at the Danzi Center, as the Rams (14-7, 9-3) fell victim to host St. Joseph's University-Long Island (10-10, 7-5) by a 71-49 decision.

The visiting Rams received 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting off the bench from senior guard Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.), while senior swingman Nick Hurowitz (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) collected seven points and pulled down as many rebounds. Freshman forward Macai John (Hauppauge, N.Y.) shot 3-of-6 from the floor to add six points for FSC.

Farmingdale State went ahead 14-10 on a lay-in by Davis with 8:55 to go in the first half, before the Golden Eagles used eight consecutive points to pull ahead en route to a 26-20 halftime advantage.

St. Joseph's-Long Island scored the first 10 points of the second frame in the span of 3:47 to open its lead up to 16, before a pair of free throws by junior point guard Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) with 13:36 to go cut the visitors' deficit to 10 points at 38-28. 

Head coach Brendan Twomey's Farmingdale State team is back in Skyline action Wednesday night (Feb. 8), when they travel to Riverdale, N.Y., for a 7 p.m. tip-off against College of Mount Saint Vincent at the Peter Jay Sharp Center.
