FSC Defeats St. Joe's-Brooklyn for Ninth Straight Skyline Victory

Farmingdale State - 73, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn - 52


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team traveled to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Tuesday evening and picked up a 73-52 victory. FSC earned their ninth straight win and 12th victory in their last 13 games.

The Rams (17-7, 13-2 Skyline) started quickly as they took a 12-1 advantage, capped off by a pair of jumpers from senior forward Dominique Senat (Elmont, N.Y.), just 6:12 into the game.

Over the next 5:40, the Bears (3-21, 2-13 Skyline) went on a 15-3 run to take their first lead of the game at 16-15.

Farmingdale State trailed 25-19 with five minutes to play in the first half and used baskets from sophomore guard Nick Hurowitz (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) and Senat to close within two, 25-23.

Sophomore guard Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) would follow with six unanswered points to put the Rams on top, 29-25.

FSC held a 31-27 advantage at the break and used another Powell jumper to go ahead by six. 

After a layup by St. Joe's-Brooklyn, Powell knocked down a 3-pointer to increase the Farmingdale State lead to seven, 36-29.

With 16:47 remaining and the Rams in front, 38-32, an 11-0 run, including eight points from sophomore guard Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.), gave FSC a commanding 49-32 advantage.

Farmingdale State led 56-38 with 8:11 left and used three straight baskets from Davis, freshman guard Kobe Thomas (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Senat, to extend their advantage to 24.

Following a Bears' 3-pointer, forwards Tre Riggins (Baldwin, N.Y.) and Elijah Galloway (Bronx, N.Y.) made baskets to give the Rams their largest lead of the game, 66-41.

FSC was outscored 11-7 down the stretch but earned the 73-52 Skyline Conference victory.

Powell tallied a game-high 18 points, while Davis recorded 13 points, six rebounds and two assists. Riggins notched 13 points, seven rebounds, one steal and one block off the bench and Senat finished with eight points, eight rebounds and two assists. Hurowitz registered five points and a game-high 11 rebounds and Thomas had six points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks.

St. Joseph's-Brooklyn senior forward Chris Mikos (Freehold, N.J.) tallied 12 points and nine rebounds in the loss.

The men's basketball team next hosts Old Westbury for a conference game on Saturday, February 19th at 1:00 p.m. in their regular season finale. The Rams can clinch the #1 seed for the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship with a win.
