Senat's Game-Winner Propels FSC Past Manhattanville

Purchase, N.Y. - Senior forward Dominique Senat (Elmont, N.Y.) hit the game-winning layup with nine seconds remaining to lead the Farmingdale State men's basketball team to a 63-62 road win over Manhattanville on Wednesday night. With the victory, the Rams improved to 11-7 overall and 7-2 in Skyline Conference play.

Tied 31-31 at the start of the second half, the Valiants (7-7, 4-3) took a five-point lead on a Mike Granda (Monroe Township, N.J.) 3-pointer and a Tommy Lotito (Staten Island, N.Y.) jumper.

After Manhattanville extended the advantage to 51-41 with 11:54 left to play, FSC answered with an 11-0 run over the next 4:29 to go up by one, 52-51. Senior guard Jake Dunn (Staten Island, N.Y.) hit a 3 on the next trip down the floor for the Valiants before a Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) layup and 3-pointer by sophomore forward Nick Hurowitz (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) gave FSC a three-point lead. The Rams used back-to-back baskets by sophomore guard Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Hurowitz to open up their largest of the game at 61-54 with 2:50 remaining.

Manhattanville followed with a 7-0 run to even the score at 61-61 with 39 seconds left on the clock. On the next Farmingdale State possession, Senat sent home the game-winning layup off the pass by Hurowitz. The Rams fouled with two seconds remaining but the Valiants were only able to hit 1-of-2 at the line before Hurowitz secured the rebound and sealed the 63-62 victory.

Hurowitz recorded a double-double with team-high's in both points (16) and rebounds (12) to go along with five assists, while Senat added six points and 10 boards. Powell finished the night with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting and Santos added 10 points and four assists.

The Valiants were led by Lotito who had a game-high 17 points after shooting 8-of-13 from the field. 

FSC next is scheduled to host Mount Saint Mary in a Skyline Conference matchup on Saturday, January 29th at 2:00 p.m.
