Rams Cruise in Win Over St. Joe's-Brooklyn

Farmingdale State - 90, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn - 51


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team played host to Skyline Conference opponent St. Joseph's-Brooklyn this afternoon and earned a 90-51 victory.

Leading 7-4 in the opening minutes, FSC (6-6, 2-1) used a 9-0 run, which saw seven points by senior forward Dominique Senat (Elmont, N.Y.), to extend the advantage to 16-4.

After SJC-BK (1-11, 0-4) cut the deficit to 22-13 with 8:37 on the clock, the Rams answered with a Nick Hurowitz (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) 3-pointer and a Zamere McKenzie (Beacon, N.Y.) layup to go up by 14.

The Bears trailed by 15 with less than three minutes remaining and cut the Farmingdale State lead to 10, 40-30, at the break.

Senat and sophomore guard Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) each led the way with nine first half points for the Rams.

With 17:04 left to play and the Rams on top 47-36, FSC followed with an 11-0 run capped off by a Hurowitz 3-pointer to take a 22-point advantage. After a 3 by SJC-BK's Evan Sirakis (Hollis, N.Y.) ended the run, Farmingdale State recorded 11 straight points - including a layup and dunk by freshman forward James Cosgrove (Franklin Square, N.Y.) - to extend the advantage to 69-39.

Leading 72-44 with 6:50 on clock, the Rams outscored the Bears 18-7 the remainder of the game en route to the 90-51 home victory.

Senat recorded a double-double with game-high's in both points (14) and rebounds (11), while sophomore guard Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) added 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Freshman guard Jaden Barwicki (Island Park, N.Y.) (4-of-5 shooting) notched a career-high 11 points in only five minutes of action and Cosgrove (4-of-6 shooting) scored a career-best eight points in the win for Farmingdale State.

For St. Joe's-Brooklyn, Sirakis registered a team-leading 10 points.

The Rams next will face Old Westbury in a Skyline Conference matchup on Wednesday, January 12th at 8:00 p.m. FSC is the road team but the game will be played at Farmingdale State.
