Santos' Late 3-Pointer Clinches Rams Win Over Ramapo

Farmingdale State - 64, Ramapo - 62


Mahwah, N.J. -  Trailing 60-59 with 30 seconds left to play, Farmingdale State freshman guard Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) knocked down a 3-pointer to take the lead and clinch the eventual 64-62 victory at Ramapo this afternoon. With the win, FSC improved to 5-6 overall, while the Roadrunners dropped to 2-8.

Ramapo led 29-20 and opened the second half with a 10-5 run to take a 14-point advantage, 39-25, with 15 minutes remaining.

After a pair of free-throws each by FSC sophomore guard Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Tre Riggins (Baldwin, N.Y.), Roadrunners' Peter Gorman (South Amboy, N.J.) tallied a jumper and a 3-pointer to give Ramapo their largest lead of the game, 44-29.

Trailing 46-34 with 10 minutes left, the Rams went on a 13-0 run, including five points apiece from sophomore guards Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Nick Hurowitz (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) to go in front, 47-46.

The Roadrunners captured the lead, 48-47, on a jump shot, but a 3-pointer from Davis on the next possession gave Farmingdale State a 50-48 advantage with 6:54 on the clock.

Ramapo was down 57-54 with 3:41 remaining and used back-to-back jumpers to take a 58-57 lead.

On FSC's next trip down the floor, senior forward Dominique Senat (Elmont, N.Y.) pulled down an offensive rebound and tallied a layup to put the Rams ahead, 59-58.

With 54 seconds left, Gorman was fouled and hit both free-throws. 

After time out by Farmingdale State, Santos knocked down the 3-pointer with 30 seconds on the clock to go in front, 62-60.

Following a Ramapo miss, Davis was intentionally fouled and hit a pair of free-throws. Just three seconds later, Gorman hit a jumper to cut the deficit to 64-62.

The Rams missed their next free-throw, which allowed the Roadrunners another shot. Gorman missed the game-tying jumper with four seconds left and Senat grabbed the rebound to secure the 64-62 victory for Farmingdale State.

Davis tallied a career-high 25 points as he shot 5-for-6 from 3-point range and a perfect 6-for-6 at the foul line. Senat recorded eight points and seven rebounds, while Santos finished with seven points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals. Powell added seven points, five rebounds and four assists for the Rams.

Farmingdale State had nine different scorers in the win.

Ramapo was led by freshman center Jordan Meyers (Piscataway, N.J.) who recorded a team-high 16 points and 11 rebounds.
