Senat's Double-Double Leads Rams Past St. Joe's-LI

Farmingdale State - 86, St. Joseph's-Long Island - 73


Farmingdale, N.Y. - FSC senior forward Dominique Senat (Elmont, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the men's basketball team to a 86-73 victory over St. Joseph's-Long Island this afternoon. With the win, the Rams improved to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Golden Eagles dropped to 3-5, 1-2.

SJC-LI opened the game with three straight layups to take an early 6-0 advantage.

Farmingdale State responded with a layup from Senat and a three-point play by freshman guard Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) to close within one, 6-5.

The Golden Eagles lead 16-15 with 13:46 on the clock and used a 3-pointer from junior guard Jake Gaudiello (East Quogue, N.Y.) to increase their lead to four.

Over the next 4:04, Farmingdale State went on a 15-0 run, including six points from sophomore guard Zamere McKenzie (Beacon, N.Y.), to take a 30-19 advantage.

After five straight points from St. Joseph's-Long Island, McKenzie recorded a pair of free-throws and a layup to regain a 10-point lead at 34-24.

With five minutes left in the first half, Golden Eagles' freshman forward Alec Tabada (North Babylon, N.Y.) tallied five points before a layup from teammate sophomore center Anthony Ferrufino (Levittown, N.Y.) cut their deficit to three, 34-31.

FSC closed the half on an 8-2 run, including two 3's from sophomore guard Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.), as they took a 42-33 lead into the break.

Over the first three minutes of the second half, McKenzie knocked down two 3-pointers during a 10-0 run for the Rams as they took a commanding 52-33 lead with 16 minutes remaining.

The Golden Eagles were down 60-42 with 12:42 left to play and went on an 8-2 run to close within 12 at 62-50.

Farmingdale State led by 11, 69-58, and used a 3-pointer from sophomore guard Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and a layup by Davis to go ahead, 74-58.

The Rams held at least a 10-point advantage over the final six minutes as they went on for the 86-73 victory.

Senat led the way and shot 7-for-11 from the field for his 20 points. McKenzie was 5-for-6 from behind the arc and tallied a season-best 19 points, while Powell finished with 16 points, six rebounds and two assists. Davis registered 11 points and four assists and Santos tallied six points, six rebounds and a career-high seven assists. Freshman guard Kobe Thomas (Hicksville, N.Y.) had eight points and three assists, while freshmen Jaden Barwicki (Island Park, N.Y.) and James Cosgrove (Franklin Square, N.Y.) recorded three points apiece off the bench.

Farmingdale State recorded 22 assists on the day, a mark that ranks 14th all-time.

FSC next heads on the road to play non-conference opponent Brooklyn on Wednesday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m.
