#1 Yeshiva Earns 45th Straight Win with Victory Over FSC

#1 Yeshiva - 80, Farmingdale State - 66


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team hosted #1 Nationally ranked Yeshiva University for a Skyline Conference game this evening and fell, 80-66. FSC dropped to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the Conference, while the Maccabees improved to 9-0, 6-0.

The Rams opened the game with back-to-back 3-pointers by sophomore forward Tre Riggins (Baldwin, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) to take a quick 6-0 advantage.

Following four points from Yeshiva, Davis recorded a pair of baskets before a layup from freshman guard Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) put Farmingdale State ahead, 12-4.

Trailing 14-7, Maccabees' junior guard Ofek Reef (Plano, Texas) made a layup and knocked down a 3-pointer to cut their deficit to just two, 14-12.

After FSC senior forward Dominique Senat (Elmont, N.Y.) was fouled and hit a pair of free-throws, Yeshiva went on an 11-0 run, capped off by a dunk from senior guard Ryan Turell (Los Angeles, Calif.) to take a 23-16 advantage.

With 5:24 on the clock and the Maccabees in front, 31-24, senior guard Eitan Halpert (Los Angeles, Calif.) hit a 3 to increase the lead to 10.

The Rams trailed 38-31 with two minutes left in the first half and hit four free-throws as they entered the break down, 38-35.

Halpert led all scorers with 15 first-half points. Davis and Senat had nine points apiece for Farmingdale State in the first 20 minutes.

Over the opening two minutes of the second half, Yeshiva used a 9-1 run to extend their lead to 47-36.

After each team tallied a basket, Riggins and sophomore guard Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) made layups to close within seven, 49-42.

The Maccabees quickly answered with a 3-pointer from senior forward Gabriel Leifer (Lawrence, N.Y.) to go back in front by 10, 52-42, with 14:36 remaining.

Yeshiva led 52-46 and scored 13 unanswered points to take a commanding 65-46 advantage with 9:20 left.

With six minutes to play and Farmingdale State down, 69-53, Davis tallied a 3-pointer and a layup to cut the deficit to 11, 69-58.

On their next possession, Halpert hit a pair of free-throws to regain a 13-point edge.

Yeshiva held at least a 10-point advantage the rest of the way as they earned their 45th straight victory, 80-66.

Davis finished with 14 points and four assists, while Powell notched 14 points, five rebounds and two steals. Riggins and Senat recorded 13 points and five rebounds apiece and Santos registered nine points, eight rebounds and four assists.

For the Maccabees, Halpert and Turrell recorded 22 and 21 points, respectively, while Leifer tallied four points, 11 assists and nine rebounds in the win.

FSC next hosts St. Joseph's-Long Island for a Skyline game on Saturday, December 4th at 1:00 p.m.
