FSC Earns Non-Conference Win Over St. Elizabeth

Madison, N.J. - The FSC men's basketball team defeated non-conference opponent St. Elizabeth, 64-51, in the consolation game of the Rose City Classic hosted by Drew University this afternoon. In the championship game of the weekend tournament, Baruch defeated Drew, 64-62.

In a low-scoring first half, Farmingdale State (2-3) trailed 14-13 with just 5:45 left on the clock and used a Nick Hurowitz (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) jumper, off the feed from Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.), to go in front, 15-14.

St. Elizabeth (0-6) responded on their next possession as senior forward Jarek Johnson (Burlington, N.J.) tallied a layup to regain the lead. 

After trading four points apiece, forwards Kawar Singh (Queens, N.Y.) and Tre Riggins (Baldwin, N.Y.) each hit a pair of free-throws to put FSC on top, 23-20.

Eagles' senior guard Tyrese Conover (Roselle, N.J.) knocked down a 3-pointer on the next possession to tie the score at 23-23.

With one second remaining in the half, St. Elizabeth was fouled and hit one free-throw. On the FSC inbound play, Riggins passed to sophomore guard Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.), who knocked down the buzzer-beating 3 as the Rams entered the break ahead, 26-24.

The Eagles were down 31-29 with 17:49 on the clock before Conover hit a 3-pointer to go in front, 32-31.

FSC answered with a three-point play from senior forward Dominique Senat (Elmont, N.Y.) and a Hurowitz layup to take a 36-32 advantage.

The Rams led 42-37 with 9:32 left to play before back-to-back layups allowed the Eagles to close within one.

Over the next 2:10, Farmingdale State scored eight unanswered points, including three apiece from Powell and Davis, to take a nine-point lead at 50-41.

After a 3-pointer by St. Elizabeth, Davis knocked down a 3 and Senat recorded a layup to give FSC a 55-44 lead with five minutes left on the clock.

The Rams outscored the Eagles 9-7 in the final 3:48 as Farmingdale State earned the 64-51 victory.

Freshman guard Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) led the way for FSC with a team-high 14 points. Hurowitz totaled 11 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal, while Davis registered 10 points and two assists. Senat notched seven points and seven rebounds and Powell recorded six points and five rebounds. Riggins, junior forward Elijah Galloway (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Zamere McKenzie (Beacon, N.Y.) had four points apiece off the bench. 

FSC had 10 different scorers in the win.

The Rams next will travel to Widener University for a non-conference game on Saturday, November 27th at 2:00 p.m.
