Rams Defeat CMSV in Final Regular Season Home Game

Farmingdale State - 85, Mount Saint Vincent - 68


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team played host to Skyline Conference opponent Mount Saint Vincent in their final regular season home game this evening and earned an 85-68 victory.

Leading 16-14, the Rams (17-7, 15-4) used a three-point play from Kyle Beeson (South Jamaica, N.Y.) followed by a 3-pointer from Ryan Kennedy (Maspeth, N.Y.) and a Jermaine Fraser (Valley Stream, N.Y.) layup to go out in front by 10 with 7:12 remaining in the first half. After Mount Saint Vincent (7-17, 6-13) responded with a quick 7-2 run to close within five, 26-21, Farmingdale State answered with 10 straight points, including 3's from guards Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Anthony Miller Jr. (Yonkers, N.Y.), to extend the advantage to 36-21 with 3:43 on the clock.

The Rams went into halftime leading 44-32 as Fraser led the way with a team-high 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting to go along with five rebounds.

FSC held a 50-39 advantage early in the second half and used a 13-0 run to go ahead, 63-39, with 12:45 left in the game. After a pair of Kalos Evans (Bronx, N.Y.) free-throws on the next Dolphins' possession, the Rams recorded three straight baskets by Chaz Platt (Jamaica, N.Y.), Troy Feeney (Hewlett, N.Y.) and Beeson to open up their largest lead of the game at 69-41.

With 8:16 remaining and CMSV down 74-49, the Dolphins went on a 10-2 run over the next 4:05 to cut the deficit to 76-59. Farmingdale State held at least a 15-point advantage the rest of the way en route to the 85-68 win.

Miller Jr. scored a team-high 12 points after shooting 4-of-6 from the floor, while senior forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) recorded a double-double on 10 points and 10 boards as well as blocking a game-high four shots. Fraser finished the night with 10 points (5-of-7 FG) and six rebounds and Graham added 11 points in the victory for FSC.

For Mount Saint Vincent, junior forward David Collins (Bronx, N.Y.) scored a game-high 13 points and secured 10 rebounds.

The Rams, who have clinched a first round bye for the playoffs, will close out the regular season at first-place Yeshiva University (17-5, 15-2) on Saturday, February 16th at 8:30 p.m.
