Farmingdale State - 97, St. Joseph's-L.I. - 72


Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team traveled to St. Joseph's-Long Island for a Skyline Conference game this afternoon and cruised to a 97-72 victory. The Rams improved to 10-6 overall and 8-3 in conference action, while the Golden Eagles dropped to 4-10, 3-7.

Leading 15-13 with 13:28 left in the first, FSC used back-to-back scores by Kyle Beeson (South Jamaica, N.Y.) and Jermaine Fraser (Valley Stream, N.Y.) along with a 3 from Anthony Miller Jr. (Yonkers, N.Y.) to go up by nine.

With 7:41 on the clock and the Rams still ahead by nine, Farmingdale State went on a 10-0 run over the next 4:00 to extend the advantage to 36-17. After a Matthew Hirdt (Miller Place, N.Y.) 3-pointer on the next St. Joe's-LI possession, FSC answered with a pair of Troy Feeney (Hewlett, N.Y.) free-throws and a 3 by sophomore guard Joseph Santoro (Levittown, N.Y.) to open up a 21-point lead. Farmingdale State took a 46-25 advantage into the break as 10 players scored in the first half.

The Golden Eagles trailed 61-40 early in the second half and the Rams used a Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) jumper and 3 from Miller Jr. to go ahead by 26.

With 11:30 remaining and Farmingdale State on top 68-44, the Rams outscored SJC-LI, 9-2, over the next 1:55 to take their largest lead of the game at 77-46. The Golden Eagles quickly responded with a 7-1 run, which saw five points by freshman guard Matthew Lavin (Babylon, N.Y.), to pull within 25.

Over the final 6:15 of the game, FSC connected on three 3-pointers to cap off the 97-72 road win.

For the Rams, Graham and senior forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) each scored a team-high 13 points, while Miller Jr. and Feeney added 11 points apiece. 15 different players scored for Farmingdale State in the victory.

SJC-LI was led by junior guard Frank Basile (Islip, N.Y.) who poured in a game-high 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting and had eight rebounds. 

The Rams next play a conference road game at Merchant Marine on Tuesday, January 15th at 7:30 p.m.
