Farmingdale State - 101, Purchase - 82
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team played host to Skyline Conference opponent Purchase College this afternoon and had six players score in double-digits as they earned a 101-82 victory. FSC, who improved to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in the conference, is averaging 86.2 points per game this season.
Over the first 6:02 of the game, Farmingdale State was a perfect 8-of-8 from the field and opened up a 22-13 advantage. During that span, junior guard Ryan Kennedy (Maspeth, N.Y.) connected on three 3's and senior guard Ali Mableton (Brentwood, N.Y.) made a pair of layups, while also hitting two free-throws for the Rams.
After a Jorge Perdomo (Bronx, N.Y.) layup with 9:14 on the clock cut the Purchase (4-4, 2-2) deficit to 30-29, FSC answered with a 7-0 run to go out in front by eight. With 4:54 remaining in the first half and the Rams on top, 43-37, Farmingdale State used a Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) jumper, a Kennedy 3 and a layup from Chaz Platt (Jamaica, N.Y.) on their next three possessions to extend the lead to 13.
FSC outscored the Panthers 10-2 over the final 2:09 of the first and took a 63-43 advantage into halftime. The Rams shot a season-best 70% (26-of-37) from the floor in the first half as Kennedy recorded 17 points on 6-of-6 shooting, including 5-for-5 from behind the arc.
Farmingdale State held a 65-48 lead early in the second half and went on a 7-0 run, which saw four points by senior forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) and a 3 from Kennedy, to open up their largest lead of the game, 72-48.
With 8:38 left and the Rams up 87-68, junior guard Anthony Miller Jr. (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Graham hits 3-pointers on FSC's next two trips down the floor to increase the advantage to 23. Farmingdale State led by at least 18 points the remainder of the game en route to the 101-82 Skyline Conference victory.
Graham led the way with game-high's in points (21) and assists (7), while Kennedy finished the day with 20 points and tied a career-high with six 3-pointers made. Mableton tallied 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and junior guard Kyle Beeson (South Jamaica, N.Y.) added 11 points (5-for-7), seven rebounds and a game-high four steals. Rounding out the six double-digit scorers for the Rams were Miller Jr. and Riefenstahl who each had 10 points in the win.
Junior guard Maxx Miller (While Plains, N.Y.) scored a game-high 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting and had five boards for Purchase.
The Farmingdale State men's basketball team next will host Yeshiva for a conference matchup on Tuesday, December 11th at 8:00 p.m.
