Riefenstahl and Graham Reach 1,000 Career Point Milestone in Win at Old Westbury

Old Westbury, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team traveled to Old Westbury on Tuesday evening and earned a 93-80 conference win. Senior forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) and senior guard Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, and each surpassed the 1,000 career point mark. Riefenstahl and Graham became just the sixth and seventh player in school history to score 1,000 career points.

With 9:31 remaining in the first half and FSC (5-2, 3-0) up by three, the Rams used a Ryan Kennedy (Maspeth, N.Y.) 3-pointer and a Riefenstahl layup on their next two possessions to go out in front, 22-14. After five straight OW (2-2, 1-1) points cut the deficit to 22-19, Farmingdale State answered with a 6-1 run which saw 3's by both Kennedy and Graham to bring the lead back to eight. FSC's final basket of the first came with 1:58 on the clock as Kennedy connected on his fourth 3-pointer of the half to send the Rams into the break up by seven, 38-31.

For Farmingdale State, Kennedy tallied a team-leading 14 first half points, while Riefenstahl scored nine points and secured 14 rebounds. Old Westbury senior forward Alan McDonald (Hempstead, N.Y.) recorded 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting in the first half.

After a Pedro Marquez (Bronx, N.Y.) 3-pointer with 13:24 remaining gave the Panthers their first lead of the game since the opening minute, Farmingdale State responded with a 10-2 run over the next 2:49 to go back on top, 59-52.

Leading 70-66 with 4:07 left to play, FSC went on an 11-0 run which saw six points by Kennedy and three from senior guard Ali Mableton (Brentwood, N.Y.) to open up a 15-point advantage and seal the road victory. FSC went on for the 93-80 win to remain perfect in Skyline Conference play.

Riefenstahl, who surpassed the 1,000 career point plateau on a layup with 8:49 remaining in the first half, finished the night with 16 points, three blocks and tied a career-high with 22 rebounds. Graham notched his 1,000th career point on a 3-pointer with 6:37 left to play in the first half and finished with 15 points. Kennedy tallied a team-high 22 points, while Mableton added 19 points in the victory.

Old Westbury was led by McDonald who recorded a double-double with a game-high 29 points and 10 boards.

The Rams next will host Skyline opponent Merchant Marine on Thursday, December 6th at 8:00 p.m. Prior to the start of Thursday's game, Riefenstahl and Graham will each be honored for their accomplishments.
