FSC Athletics Winter Update #11

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Winter weekly report #11 on Monday, February 12th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's basketball.

Men's Basketball Update (16-7, 14-4 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The FSC men's basketball team went 2-1 last week as they dropped a conference game at Purchase (79-70) before defeating both St. Joseph's-L.I. (68-63) and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (90-69) at home. Farmingdale State currently holds sole possession of first place in the Skyline Conference heading into the final week of the regular season.

Junior forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) was tabbed to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after averaging a double-double with 14.3 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 61-percent from the field. Riefenstahl recorded 13 points and 13 rebounds to go along with a career-high six assists at Purchase. He followed with 17 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks vs. St. Joe's-LI and ended the week with 13 points and nine rebounds against St. Joe's-Brooklyn.

This week FSC will play a pair of home games: Tuesday vs. Yeshiva @ 8:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Mount Saint Vincent @ 2:00 p.m. on Senior Day.

 

Women's Basketball Update (12-11, 11-5 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State fell to Mount Saint Mary, 53-48, before defeating Purchase, 71-49, for a 1-1 week.

Senior guard Kaelyn Ward (East Hampton, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll. Ward averaged 15.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. She tallied 13 points, six rebounds and three steals on Thursday vs. Mount Saint Mary and finished the week with a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday against Purchase.

The women's basketball team will play two conference games this week: Tuesday at Mount Saint Vincent @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Merchant Marine @ noon on Senior Day.

 

Indoor Track Update

The indoor track teams competed in two meets last week. On Friday at the Fastrack National Invitational, two school records were broken. Senior Nicolas Fratto (Farmingdale, N.Y.) set the FSC all-time mark in the 200m (21.84), while the team of Megan Eiseman (Seaford, N.Y.), Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.), Nicole Franz (Melville, N.Y.) and Danielle Losquadro (Bethpage, N.Y.) recorded the school record in the Distance Medley Relay in a time of 13:43.82.

On Sunday at the St. Joseph's Invitational, sophomore Samantha Pollucci (Bay Shore, N.Y.) moved to #2 on the FSC All-Time List as she was the top Division III runner in the 60m in 8.04 (placed third of 58), while sophomore Kelsey Jamison (Huntington, N.Y.) posted a team-best 10th place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 11.59m (38' 0.25"). Jamison's throw ranks third on the Farmingdale State All-Time List.

The Rams have the week off and will next head to the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. for the NJAC Championships on Monday, February 19th.
