Rams Record 34-Point Win at Maritime

Farmingdale State - 82, Maritime - 48


Throggs Neck, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team earned a 34-point victory, 82-48, in a Skyline Conference game at Maritime on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Rams improved to 12-6 overall and 10-3 in conference action, while the Privateers dropped to 8-12, 5-11.

After Maritime recorded the opening basket, FSC followed with a 14-0 run to go up by 12 with 12:35 remaining in the first half. The Privateers used a Brendan McGovern (Seaford, N.Y.) 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 18-11, before the Rams outscored MT, 15-2, over the next 6:54 to extend the lead to 33-13. Junior guard Ali Mableton (Brentwood, N.Y.) tallied the final five points of the half for Farmingdale State as the Rams took a 38-16 advantage into the break.

In a first half controlled by FSC, Mableton led the scoring with nine points (3-for-4), while junior forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) had four points and 11 rebounds.

The Rams opened the second half with a Riefenstahl dunk and a Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) jumper to extend the lead to 42-16.

With 14:28 left to play and FSC in front 48-25, six straight points by sophomore guard Kyle Beeson (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) and a pair of Anthony Miller Jr. (Yonkers, N.Y.) free-throws increased the advantage to 31 points.

Leading 66-36 with 6:35 remaining, Farmingdale State recorded a 7-0 run over the next 3:27 to go ahead, 73-36. The Rams, who had all 14 players on the team score, earned the 82-48 road victory.

Beeson tied a season-high with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go along with six rebounds, while Mableton and sophomore guard Troy Feeney (Hewlett, N.Y.) each added nine points. Riefenstahl finished the night with six points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Privateers were led by senior center Patrick MacDonald (Buffalo, N.Y.) who tallied a team-high 12 points and nine boards.

The Rams next will travel to Sarah Lawrence for a conference matchup on Thursday, February 1st at 8:00 p.m.
