Rams Cruise Past St. Joseph's-LI

Farmingdale State - 74, St. Joseph's-Long Island - 45


Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team cruised to a 74-45 Skyline Conference victory at St. Joseph's-Long Island this afternoon. The Rams led 44-26 at halftime and outscored the Golden Eagles by 11 in the second half en route to the win.

Leading 12-10 with 13:40 remaining, FSC (9-4, 7-2) used an 8-0 run over the next 2:08 to open up a double-digit advantage. SJC-LI (2-11, 2-7) quickly answered with seven straight points to close within three, 20-17, but the Rams followed with a 17-0 run to go up by 20 points with 4:04 left to play in the half. Farmingdale State went into the break leading 44-26 as junior guard Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) led the way with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting.

After St. Joe's-LI tallied the first four points of the second half, the Rams used a 12-0 run which saw 3's from both Graham and senior guard Liam Monaghan (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) to extend the advantage to 56-30 with 13:40 on the clock.

With 9:31 remaining and FSC on top 61-34, a dunk by Troy Feeney (Hewlett, N.Y.) off the feed from Monaghan started a 10-2 run which was capped off by an Anthony Miller Jr. (Yonkers, N.Y.) jumper to increase the lead to 35. The Rams led by at least 29 over the final 5:28 as they carded the 74-45 road victory.

Graham led all scorers with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while junior forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) had 12 points to go along with game-highs in both rebounds (9) and blocks (3).

The Golden Eagles were led by senior guard Stephen Cohen (Coram, N.Y.) who tallied 14 points, four rebounds and four steals.

Farmingdale State next will host Merchant Marine in a conference game on Tuesday, January 16th at 7:00 p.m.
