Balanced Scoring Attack Leads FSC Over Sarah Lawrence

Farmingdale State - 80, Sarah Lawrence - 66


Farmingdale, N.Y. - In this afternoon's men's basketball game, Farmingdale State had five players score in double-digits as they earned an 80-66 Skyline Conference victory over Sarah Lawrence.

Trailing 19-17 midway through the first, the Rams (6-4, 4-2 Skyline) used a 17-3 run, capped off by a Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) 3-pointer, to take a 12-point advantage, 34-22, with 4:18 left in the half.

The Gryphons (2-10, 1-6) quickly answered with back-to-back 3's by freshman guard Kaleb Robinson (Las Vegas, Nev.) and junior guard Austin Jones (Upper Marlboro, Md.) to cut the deficit to six, 34-28.

Farmingdale State outscored Sarah Lawrence 6-2 over the final 2:49 of the half as they took a 40-30 lead into the break.

Graham led all scorers with 15 first half points to go along with three assists and three rebounds.

Leading 55-46 with 11:13 remaining, four points from FSC sophomore guard Kyle Beeson (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) and a Jermaine Fraser (Valley Stream, N.Y.) free-throw extended the advantage to 14, 60-46.

After a quick 7-2 run by the Gryphons cut the deficit to 62-54, a pair of free-throws by FSC sophomore guard Troy Feeney (Hewlett, N.Y.) and a layup from Beeson increased the Rams lead to 66-54 with 7:16 left.

Sarah Lawrence closed to within six, 67-61, with 5:58 remaining but an 8-0 Farmingdale State run would put the Rams ahead by 14.

Farmingdale State led by at least 11 points over the final 3:22 as they earned the 80-66 Skyline victory.

Graham finished with a team-high 17 points, while Beeson recorded 16 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Fraser and Feeney each pitched in 14 points and 11 rebounds and sophomore guard Chaz Platt (Jamaica, N.Y.) produced 11 points and three assists for the Rams.

Jones was 4-for-6 from behind the arc and ended with a game-high 20 points, while freshman forwards Enike Anyia (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Isaiah Pean (Spring Valley, N.Y.) both added 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the loss.

The Rams next travel to play Mount Saint Mary on Thursday, January 4th at 7:00 p.m.
