Riefenstahl, Mableton Lead Rams to Conference Win at Yeshiva

Farmingdale State - 80, Yeshiva - 71


New York, N.Y. - Junior forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) and junior guard Ali Mableton (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored 22 and 21 points, respectively, to lead the Farmingdale State men's basketball team to an 80-71 Skyline victory over Yeshiva University on Tuesday evening. The Rams improved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play, while the Maccabees fell to 4-6, 3-4.

Leading 18-14 only 7:52 into the game, Yeshiva scored five unanswered points on a Justin Hod (Teaneck, N.J.) 3-pointer and a pair of free-throws by sophomore forward Bar Alluf (Kfar Saba, Israel) to extend their advantage to nine, 23-14.

Trailing by 10, 26-16, midway through the first half, FSC used a 16-3 run, which saw seven points from junior guard Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.), to take a three-point lead, 32-29.

After a 3 by Maccabees sophomore guard Tyler Hod (Teaneck, N.J.) tied the game, 32-32, Rams junior forward Eriq Williams (Valley Stream, N.Y.) was fouled and hit a pair at the line before sophomore guard Kyle Beeson (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) tallied a layup to put Farmingdale State ahead by four with 3:08 left in the first half.

FSC took a 43-38 lead into the break as Riefenstahl (5-of-7) and Graham (5-of-9) led the way with 12 points apiece.

With Yeshiva down, 67-61, and 7:34 remaining, Alluf knocked down a 3 off the feed from sophomore forward Daniel Katz (Baltimore, Md.) to cut the deficit to only three, 67-64.

The Rams would quickly counter as Mableton converted a three-point play and Riefenstahl produced two at the line to bring the FSC advantage to eight, 72-64.

Leading 76-71 with 1:35 remaining, FSC senior guard Liam Monaghan (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) and Graham each tallied a pair of free-throws down the stretch to seal the 80-71 Skyline Conference victory. The Rams held the Maccabees to only seven points over the final 7:34 of the contest.

Riefenstahl finished with six rebounds and a game-high two blocks, while Mableton added five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Williams pulled down a game-high seven rebounds and Monaghan produced game-high's with six assists and three steals for FSC.

Yeshiva was led by Alluf's team-high 21 points, five rebounds and four assists.

The Rams next travel to #6 Ramapo College for a non-conference game on Friday, December 15th at 7:30 p.m.
