Brooklyn, N.Y. - With two seconds remaining and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn down by one, an offensive rebound and score by sophomore forward Kavan Meiner (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Bears to a 71-70 Skyline Conference victory over Farmingdale State on Tuesday night. The FSC men's basketball team dropped to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the Skyline, while St. Joe's-Brooklyn improved to 1-2, 1-0.

The Bears led 47-41 with 15:02 remaining and used a 9-2 run over the next 3:13 to extend the advantage to 56-43. On their next possession a 3-pointer by Dimitri Sirakis (Hollis, N.Y.) put SJCBK ahead 59-45 before the Rams answered with a 3 from Chaz Platt (Jamaica, N.Y.) and an Ali Mableton (Brentwood, N.Y.) jumper to close within nine.

Trailing 63-54, Farmingdale State went on a 14-0 run which saw 12 points by junior guard Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) to open up a 68-63 advantage with 2:03 left to play.

A pair of Alec Willis (Staten Island, N.Y.) free-throws and a layup cut the St. Joe's-Brooklyn deficit to one, 68-67, with 22 seconds remaining. Graham and Matt McQuillen (Staten Island, N.Y.) traded free-throws on each team's next possession to keep it a one-point game with eight seconds left on the clock. After a missed free-throw by FSC, Meiner secured the offensive rebound on a errant 3-point attempt and converted the game-winning layup.

Graham finished the night with a game-high 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting to go along with five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Mableton tallied 13 points (6-for-10) and five rebounds, while junior forward Eriq Williams (Valley Stream, N.Y.) added 12 points (5-for-11) and six boards.

The Bears were led by Meiner, Willis and Sirakis who each recorded 15 points in the win.

FSC next will host New Jersey City in a non-conference game on Saturday, November 25th at 2:00 p.m.
