Riefenstahl to Play for Team USA's DIII Brazil Tour

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State's George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) will play for Team USA's DIII Brazil Tour this summer. The team is made up of invited NCAA Division III basketball players from across the country.

In his first two seasons at FSC, Riefenstahl is averaging 10.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 58-percent from the field. This past year, after leading the Rams in scoring, field goal percentage and blocked shots, he was named First Team All-Conference, Second Team All-Met and an ECAC Metro Honorable Mention.

"This is an outstanding group of basketball players that come from 12 different states and 18 different colleges and universities from across the United States. We feel that we have some of the BEST of the BEST representing almost every Region in the country. These players have been high achievers both on the court and in the classroom. They represent everything good that the NCAA Division III institutions have to offer".

The USA DIII Men's & Women's Basketball Teams will begin their Brazil Tour 2017 in Orlando, Florida on July 17th and it runs until July 26th. After orientation in Orlando, the team departs for Sao Paulo, Brazil. The teams will practice in the city of Jundiai, Sao Paulo on July 18th. After practice, the teams will conduct a youth clinic at the Clube Jundiense. The USA DIII Basketball Teams will play a doubleheader (Men & Women) on July 19th in the city of Araraquara, which is in the state of Sao Paulo. The Araraquara men & women are both professional teams. On July 20th, the USA DIII Teams will travel to Rio de Janeiro. The teams will play on July 22nd versus Mesquita and July 23rd against Queimados. The USA DIII teams will play their final games on July 24th at Fluminese in Rio. The team will depart Brazil on the evening of July 25th and return to the USA on July 26th.
While in Brazil the teams will experience educational, cultural and social aspects of Brazilian life through city, school and sports club visits. While in Rio, the team will be staying on the famous Copacabana Beach and touring the Christ the Redeemer Statue and Sugar Loaf Mountain, two of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.
